If I told you that the secret to healing your acne forever is by making diet changes and incorporating a few supplements, would you do it? If you’ve come this far in your search, then I’m sure your answer is an overwhelming YES! That’s why I developed this site: to share what I’ve learned throughout years of struggling with cystic acne and how I finally got clear skin without drugs or chemicals.
If you’re like me, you’ve tried every over-the-counter cream, dermatologist-prescribed medication and antibiotics, as well as endured dead-end explanations about overactive sebum glands and hormones being responsible for breakouts. It never sat well with me that I was fated to have bad skin. I knew that there had to be something causing the acne and that once I found this, I would rid myself of acne forever.
After several years of removing and adding foods to my diet, I finally realized what foods were causing acne, which were healing it and why. It’s a shame that doctor’s aren’t researching and discussing the effects of food, but itf there’s one thing Western medicine has been correct about in terms of acne, it’s the use of antibiotics – originally.
You see, dermatologist prescribe antibiotics because years ago (when they first stumbled across this solution) it did reduce acne in patients. What does that tell you? Acne is caused by a BACTERIA! Yep, that’s right. But, as with the use of all antibiotics, the bacteria mutates and the antibiotics are no longer effective. That’s where we are today and why antibiotic don’t work. So, how do we kill the bacteria?
By not feeding the bacteria the foods it loves and incorporating the foods and supplements that destroy it, we all can overcome our acne. It’s that simple. Here are the foods to avoid at all cost if you have acne, because they feed the bacteria:
- All grains, including corn
- Canola oil
- MSG, including nutritional yeast
- Citric acid
On the other hand, the acne bacteria hates fruits and vegetables, particularly these foods:
- All berries, especially strawberries and wild blueberries
- All greens, especially spinach
- Fresh herbs: thyme, rosemary, sage and oregano
- Garlic (raw)
- Red bell pepper
- Winter squash
- Sweet potatoes and other tuberous roots
Here are the supplements that are most effective for acne (I have no affiliation with these companies, but they’re what worked for me):
- Zinc sulfate
- Ester-c or liposomal c
- Lemon balm
- Oregano oil
- Licorice root
- Selenium (to heal old scars)
Also, there are quite a few herbal teas that help kill acne bacteria:
- Lemon balm
Additionally, you want to drink a lot of lemon water to help your body detox and I also recommend getting a mini trampoline and rebounding at least five minutes a day. This helps move the lymphatic system where your acne bacteria is living (for more on this, read here).
